Atlanta Wins Again, 2-1
|
Justin Picton pitched a gem to help the Atlanta Pilots escape with a tight 2-1 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks in a low-scoring Cup Qualifier contest today. The right-handed Picton threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball in the win, just enough for the Pilots on a day when their offense dried up. Atlanta now leads the best-of-7 series 2-0.
Atlanta used a timely hit from James Queen to get the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Pilots ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"By the skin of our teeth, man," Picton told the Atlanta Chronicle. "But hey, it still counts. A few more by the skin of our teeth is fine with me."
Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at The Hangar in Atlanta.
