The Winnipeg Goldeyes bested the Edmonton Drillers, 7-5, at Drillers Field. Seigo Yamamoto was one of the standouts. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. After today's action, Winnipeg sits at 21-13, while Edmonton falls to 17-17.
Had Caleb Duffey not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Duffey hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Goldeyes.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Duffey, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
