The Denver Cutthroats had to overcome a fine performance from Boston pitcher Chris Roche to grab a 3-2 win at Shamrocks Ballpark. Roche allowed 2 runs over 6.2 innings. Phil Van Haren was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 2 save opportunities. Denver is now 25-35, Boston 23-37.
Denver used the bat of Kyle Cogan to get the win. The pinch hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cutthroats ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it did its damage.
Cogan attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
