Eagles Get Hard-Earned Win, Stop Tigers, 5-4
|
The Newark Eagles topped the Hamilton Tigers by the score of 5-4, with the biggest share of the credit going to third baseman Rafael Sanchez. Sanchez was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Eagles on the day. Lance Beyer, now 2-2, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings. The Eagles, now 11-6, have been playing some good baseball.
Sanchez had a timely hit for Newark in the bottom of the eighth. With Hamilton trailing 4-2, he turned a full count fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season, making it 5-4, Newark.
