4-2 Triumph Takes Allentown to 9-6
|
Allentown Fleetwings starter Evan Rodriguez pitched a strong game against the Newark Eagles at Fleetwings Ballpark, leading the Fleetwings to victory, 4-2. Tyler Rodriguez notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 2-1. Allentown, now 9-6, has gotten their season off to a good start.
Had Steve Starr not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Starr hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Fleetwings.
"I thought we played a nice game," Rodriguez told the Allentown News. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
