Goldeyes Top Tigers to Even Record
|
Winnipeg Goldeyes starter Pete Mellema was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Hamilton Tigers, 2-1. The defending champion Goldeyes have struggled a bit to find their groove this season, but improve to 7-7 with the win.
Boutros Mukuru aided the Winnipeg cause with a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the shortstop went 2-4 with a triple.
"Bottom line," said Hamilton skipper Tom Kern, "we didn't play well enough to win."
