Eagles Snatch Late Win
The home crowd had a good time watching the Southern California Empires and Newark Eagles get after it.

Newark center fielder Chance Bogardus helped his team beat the Southern California Empires, 9-3. Bogardus, who is rated as the 97th best prospect by BNN, went 4 for 5 for the Eagles. The win puts Newark at 6-3.

Newark took a 4-3 lead on Dennis Laulainen's 1st triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Laulainen hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Southern California pitcher Eric Kolbe visibly frustrated.

"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Bogardus told the Newark Daily News. "But we take nothing for granted."
