Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Winnipeg Goldeyes home opener. Bill Ross started for the home team against Jesse Krogh for the Saskatoon Moose. The Goldeyes were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 3-1, Saskatoon. Bill Ross, though, was impressive.
In the bottom of the ninth, Matt Whitcraft stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Goldeyes were trailing 3-1, but had runners on 1st and 3rd. That's when Ryan Robinson made a terrific pitch and Whitcraft struck out. Gone was the dream of a Winnipeg comeback.
