The New York City Blues stymied the Boston Shamrocks, 4-2, at Blues Field. Oscar Alvarenga had a good day at the plate. He belted 2 home runs for New York City. The 5th-place Blues go to 11-11.

Had Jim Astorga not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Astorga hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Blues.

After the game, New York City manager Paul Wood applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
