Eagles Crowned Kings of the East Division Monday, September 23rd , 2002 The Newark Eagles are trying to accomplish something that's never been done before - hosting a Semi-Pro Circuit Cup parade in the city of Newark. They've taken the big first step, winning the East Division title. "We want to win a championship, that's our ultimate goal and something our franchise deserves," said starting pitcher Aaron Cox. "Our coaches, GM and ownership have been behind us, it's time to make that effort pay off." The club's record sits at 57-26 and it is the 1st time they've won the division title. Team manager Steve LaPorte said it will be the "accomplishment of a lifetime" if he can lead the team to a championship. "It's what we've been working towards for so long," he said. |
