Drillers Sutton Gone for Year Thursday, August 22nd , 2002
The season is finished for Andy Sutton of the Edmonton Drillers. The club announced today that he will forego the rest of the year because of injury. The Drillers reliever suffered a stretched elbow ligament while throwing a pitch in a recent game against the Calgary Caracals. Team doctors said it would take at least 10 months to heal.
Sutton has taken the mound for 18 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 1-0 record with a 4.13 ERA. The Edmonton reliever has limited opposing batters to a .225 batting average.
