Ortiz Tosses 2-0 Shutout for Houston Friday, September 6th , 2002 In an outstanding mound performance, Houston Mavericks starter Jose Ortiz fired a complete-game shutout against the Los Angeles Knights at Mavericks Ballpark today. Ortiz was the key to the Mavericks's 2-0 win. The 31-year-old left-hander was in high spirits on the mount for much of the game, his mood largely undented by the 1 hit and 2 walks he allowed. "1 hit?" he said with a laugh following the game. "Listen, I'd be happy with a 30-hitter as long as it was a shutout."
