Lions Stay Hot With 5-3 Win
|
Boston third baseman Willie Zamora had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Zamora hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice, even as St. Louis beat the Shamrocks, 5-3. The winning pitcher was Kevin Williams. He tossed 114 pitches over 7.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 10 hits. The save went to Tom Thompson, number 2 for him.
St. Louis relied on the bat of Arthur Hubley to get the win. The center fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Lions ahead, 2-0. For the game, Hubley had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"It's good to win," Hubley told the St. Louis Chronicle. "I like to have fun doing it."
The Lions, now 55-32, have won 7 in a row.
