Blues Lose to Knights, 5-3
|
The Los Angeles Knights ushered in the 2002 season with a win versus the New York City Blues at Camelot. The final score was 5-3. Starting Pitcher Mike Newton, who finished 5th in the PBC in ERA with 2.55 in 2000, had a standout performance. Newton got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 4 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. Newton allowed 3 runs.
The Knights got an important contribution from second baseman Ricky Sori, who in the bottom of the second punched a 1-0 sinker into right-center for a 2-run double. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Knights ahead, 4-0.
"We've got a great group of guys," Sori said, "and we're having fun right now."
