Eagles Clip Goldeyes 1-0 in SPCC Contest
The Newark Eagles defeated the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 1-0, in Game 2 of the Semi-Pro Circuit Cup. Doing his part was starter Aaron Cox, who threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball. The win moves Newark into a 1-1 tie with Winnipeg in the series.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Newark left fielder Aaron Henke, facing Justin Pike, had a run-scoring double. It gave the Eagles the 1-0 win.

"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Newark manager Steve LaPorte.

The next game is set to be played for Thursday, October 3rd , 2002 at Goldeyes Park in Winnipeg.
