Carreras, Mavericks Sink Lions Again in Game 2
Riding the 2-hit performance of right fielder Tony Carreras, the Houston Mavericks stopped the visiting St. Louis Lions, 6-3, in Game 2 of the Pro Circuit Cup today. Carreras hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Mavericks, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.

The game turned with two out in the bottom of the sixth when Carreras, who led the PBC in extra base hits with 59 in 2002, hit a 2-run home run. It propelled the Mavericks into the lead, 4-2.

"You hit 2 home runs in the regular season and you remember it," Carreras said later. "You hit 2 home runs in the Pro Circuit Cup and everyone remembers it."

Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at The Lions Hearth in St. Louis.
