Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Southern California Empires and the Ottawa Capitals. Southern California won it, 2-1. Kylian Dufour was the walk-off hero for Southern California. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Empires pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

Afterward, Empires manager Doug Stucker was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
