The Southern California Empires defeated the Ottawa Capitals, 5-2, at Empires Stadium today. Leading the charge for Southern California was pitcher Tim Brenner. He threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs. Southern California, at 36-46, sits in 5th place in the West Division.
The Empires got a big at-bat from shortstop Mike Petch. For the game, Petch was 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Southern California a 4-1 lead.
