Capitals Shut Out Eagles, 8-0

Ottawa and Newark got after it at Eagles Park.
The Ottawa Capitals topped the Newark Eagles, 8-0, in Semi-Pro Baseball Circuit action at Eagles Park. The standout performance belonged to Ottawa pitcher and New York, native Carlos Fonseca. Fonseca, now 4-6, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 4, and allowing no runs.
Ottawa relied on the hitting of Torvald Gomez to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Capitals on top, 3-0. For the game, Gomez had 1 home run and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"There's never a lack of effort in our clubhouse. We're willing to do the little things to get the win," Gomez told the Ottawa Daily News.
The Capitals improve their record to 24-40 with the win over Newark.
