Empires Need Extra Frames to Get Past Capitals
The Southern California Empires stymied the Ottawa Capitals, 4-2, at Capitals Stadium. Isaiah Dixon had a good day at the plate. He went 5 for 6 with a double and 4 singles for Southern California. Tony Harrigan, 2-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. With the victory, the Empires upped their record to 21-17.

Southern California used the clutch hitting of Brad Curran to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the 11th inning to give the Empires the lead, 3-2. For the game, Curran had 1 single and 1 double in 6 at-bats.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Dixon. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
