The Southern California Empires got a good effort from starter Tyler Rodriguez in defeating the Allentown Fleetwings at Empires Stadium. The final score was 4-2. Rodriguez went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 6, and struck out 4. His record improves to 4-1. Mike Gaston recorded the save for Southern California, his 2nd of the season.

Wing-kit Chen dealt the Fleetwings a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with the bases loaded and Southern California leading 1-0, Chen, who is the 3rd-best prospect in the Empires organization, hit a 2-0 slider for a 2-run single.

Chen called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
