Goldeyes Go 10 Innings to Beat Southern California, 3-1
Southern California got a terrific performance from pitcher Tyler Rodriguez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Winnipeg Goldeyes. Winnipeg won the Empires Stadium contest, 3-1. Rodriguez threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Winnipeg reliever Jim Purchase picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Jeff Pennello absorbed the loss. The win puts Winnipeg at 12-11 this season.

Winnipeg used the clutch hitting of Chad Fergerson to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to give the Goldeyes the lead, 2-1. For the game, Fergerson had 2 singles and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

"It was a tough night at the plate," said Southern California manager Doug Stucker.
