The Newark Eagles beat the Calgary Caracals, 8-6, at Eagles Park. Newark first baseman Greg Holcomb had an outstanding performance. He slugged 2 home runs. Picking up the save was Oliver McPeak, his 2nd. The victory gives the Eagles a record of 14-8.

The Eagles got a big at-bat from right fielder Wally Smith. For the game, Smith was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Newark a 5-4 lead.

"We came out aggressive," said Eagles manager Steve LaPorte. "We came out swinging the bats."
