Eagles Roll to 10-2 Win Over Empires
The Newark Eagles thumped the Southern California Empires, 10-2, at Empires Stadium. Wally Smith was a big reason his team got the win. Smith slugged 2 home runs. Aaron Cox was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 1 run on 2 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. Tyler Scott earned the save for Newark, his 1st of the year.

The game turned with two out in the top of the fourth when Smith, who is rated as the 2nd best prospect by BNN, hit a solo home run. It propelled the Eagles into the lead, 2-1.

"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Smith told a Newark Today reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."

The win puts Newark at 3-2.
