Goldeyes Come Up Short at Newark, 4-3
The Newark Eagles topped the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 4-3, in Semi-Pro Baseball Circuit action at Eagles Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Newark pitcher Carlos Rojas. In 7.1 innings, Rojas surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 3. He allowed 3 runs. Picking up the save was Sid Brumbley, his 1st.

Had Cory Hoyt not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Hoyt hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Eagles.
