Big Game from Kershner Not Enough, Mavericks Lose
Houston center fielder Dave Kershner had a good game, even if his team did not. The Mavericks dropped a 6-5 decision to Washington at Mavericks Ballpark. Kershner was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Eric McIntosh, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 9. His record now stands at 4-3. Cory Ionescu picked up the save for Washington, his 12th of the year.

Victor Araque, who is tied for 6th in the PBC with a .330 batting average, aided the Washington cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth. For the game, the third baseman was 1-4.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Washington manager Mike Gross.

The 5th-place Warriors lifted their record to 28-27.
