The Washington Warriors picked up a win at Warriors Park, taking down the New York City Blues, 2-1. Starting pitcher Aaron Sales was a big reason why. Sales went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 0, and struck out 3. His record improves to 5-4. Cory Ionescu got the save, the 9th for him this season.

Washington left fielder Eddie Stevenson contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a changeup into right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 51st hit of the season and put the Warriors ahead, 2-1.

"Every loss hurts," said New York City manager Bill Koepsel. "But this was a tough one."

The first-place Warriors have a one-game lead in their division.
