Mavericks Lose to Blackhawks, 6-3
|
The Chicago Blackhawks picked up a win at Mavericks Ballpark, knocking off the Houston Mavericks, 6-3. Starting pitcher Mike Kirkland played a key role in the triumph. Kirkland, now 4-2, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. Ruben Wirtz closed it out for his 11th save.
It could have been a different outcome for Chicago, had it not been for Daniel Adams, the 29-year old first baseman . Adams contributed a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put Chicago up, 5-1.
Adams attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
Houston has now lost 4 consecutive games.
