Keystones Beat Boston, 6-5
|
Boston first baseman Dan Stricklin had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Stricklin was 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 3 times, even as Philadelphia beat the Shamrocks, 6-5. Philadelphia reliever Chris Kaplan was the winner. His record is now 1-2. Willie Cantu took the loss. Philadelphia currently is in 5th place in the East Division at 35-37.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Wayne Williams came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Boston pitcher Willie Cantu, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Philadelphia on top, 6-5.
In postgame remarks, Williams said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
