Best PBC Reliever Named Sunday, October 14th , 2001 Ruben Wirtz now has a big bargaining chip as he potentially heads towards free agency - he is the winner of the 2001 Professional Baseball Circuit Reliever of the Year Award. The Denver Cutthroats star turned in what he called the "year of my life," in winning the award. It included a 0.75 ERA through 84.1 innings and 48 relief appearances. He recorded 10 saves, 110 strikeouts and had only 19 walks. He compiled a record of 6-0, while limiting hitters to a .144 average. Luis Perez of the New York City Blues finished second in voting, while Dave Kaminski of the Philadelphia Keystones finished third. |
