No Late-Season Magic Coming: New York City Out of Playoffs Sunday, September 23rd , 2001 A late-season playoff push is not in the cards for the New York City Blues. The club today was mathematically knocked out of playoff contention. "There are a lot of long faces around right now," said Blues manager Bob Matz. "You know in your head that every year, most teams in baseball have to go through this, but it still hurts when you realize you've lost your shot at a title." The Blues are still searching for their first playoff appearance. The team also missed qualifying for the postseason last season. |
