St. Louis Lions starter Mario Villanueva was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Houston Mavericks, 6-3. Scott Daniels earned the save for St. Louis, his 8th. The Lions now have a mark of 43-45.

Mike Bowman dealt the Mavericks a blow in the bottom of the sixth. Batting with the bases loaded and St. Louis leading 4-3, Bowman, who is tied for 8th in the PBC with a .302 batting average, hit a first pitch fastball for a 2-run single.

"Feels good to get the job done," Villanueva said after the game.
