Despite a great performance by San Francisco right fielder Tony Carreras, the Boston Shamrocks defeated the Peanuts by the score of 6-2 at Peanuts Stadium. Carreras went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times. The winner in relief was Mel Palma. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. He now owns a record of 1-1. The 4th-place Shamrocks have won 6 consecutive games.

Boston used a well-timed hit by Dan Stricklin to capture the win. The center fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Shamrocks ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.

"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Stricklin said in reaction to the win.
