In a low-scoring affair between the New York City Blues and the Dallas Texans, pitcher Earl Dunbar was the difference between victory and defeat. The New York City right-hander earned accolades in the 3-1 Blues win. Dunbar, now 7-4, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Luis Perez earned the save, his 11th.
Seigo Yamamoto, the 32-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Yamamoto contributed a run-scoring triple in the top of the first inning to put New York City up, 1-0.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Dallas skipper Nigel Laverick, "and it cost us."
The 4th-place Blues now have a 4-game winning streak.
