Lions Snatch Late Win
St. Louis Lions starter Ismael Cruz was in the groove. He led his team to a win over the Boston Shamrocks, 4-2. St. Louis reliever Mitch Cotham picked up the win to move to 1-0. Matt Beyea suffered the loss. The second-place Lions now have a win-loss record of 26-20.

Juan Velasquez, who is tied for 7th in the PBC in triples with 3, came through for St. Louis with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. The right fielder went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and collected 2 runs batted in.

"I went after the hitters," said Cruz. "No pussyfooting around."
