Peanuts Lose to Warriors, 3-1
|
The Washington Warriors picked up a win at Warriors Park, courtesy of John Braine. The right-hander helped his team stop the San Francisco Peanuts, 3-1. Braine, now 8-2, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. The 'W' lifts Washington's record to 25-20.
Anthony Whitaker had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the sixth for Washington. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Washington in front, 2-0.
"You score one run, you're not going to win," said San Francisco skipper Jack Schilling. "You can have three Koufaxes and three Drysdales, you're still not going to win."
