With first baseman Steve Contreras leading the charge, the New York City Blues defeated the Washington Warriors, 4-0, at Blues Field. Contreras, who is tied for 9th in the PBC with a .544 slugging percentage, belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Antonio Maytorena, the winning pitcher, improved to 4-3. He pitched 7.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and no runs, while striking out 7 and walking 1. Luis Perez earned the save for New York City, his 10th.
The Blues ran into trouble in the top of the second. The score was 1-0, New York City, with two out. Washington, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, had Jose Martinez at the plate. With a base hit, he could have changed the complexion of the game. Instead, he lined out and the Blues went on to win.
