Peanuts Earn 9-6 Win Versus Philadelphia
|
Philadelphia got a terrific game from third baseman Jimmy O'Connor. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to San Francisco, 9-6. O'Connor was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Hunter Miller, credited with the win, is now 4-0. He allowed no runs on 5 hits. San Francisco is now 21-22, while Philadelphia is 19-24.
In the bottom of the seventh, San Francisco shortstop Pat Sciocchetti hit a run-scoring single to center field. The clutch hit made it, 5-4, Peanuts.
Peanuts manager Jack Schilling wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
