Detroit got a terrific performance from pitcher Kyle Boss, but it wasn't enough to beat the Los Angeles Knights. Los Angeles won the Los Angeles Grounds contest, 1-0. Boss threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Reliever Victor Lujan picked up the win. His record improves to 1-2. Phil Knobbe took the loss. The win elevated the Knights to 20-16.
The most significant at-bat for Los Angeles came with the bases empty in the bottom of the ninth. Knights third baseman Bill Flohrs hit a double to win the game.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Detroit manager Dick Granade.
