Stevenson Hits Two Dingers, Warriors Win, 5-4
|
The Washington Warriors beat the Chicago Blackhawks, 5-4, at Trident Field. Washington left fielder Eddie Stevenson had an outstanding performance. He slugged 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. John Braine, the winner, goes to 5-1. He allowed 3 runs on 11 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts over 8 innings. Picking up the save was David Haraway, his 7th.
Stevenson had a timely hit for Washington in the top of the sixth. With Chicago trailing 1-0, he turned a first pitch changeup into a 3-run home run. It was his 11th home run of the season, making it 3-1, Washington.
"I felt good up there," said Stevenson. "I saw the ball well."
With the win, Washington raised its record to 13-13.
