Sale Finalized, Matz Takes over in New York City
Saturday, October 14th , 2000
There is a sense of unease in certain parts of the New York City sports community following the sale of the New York City Blues.

Former owner Alex Ramos, well-known to New York City, has sold the team to eccentric industrialist Ben Matz.

Matz tried to reassure Blues season ticket holders that he wants to win.

"I want to make the best team I can. I'm going to find everything that's wrong with the team and fix it," he said. "I know that things are stacked against us. If something is important enough, even if the odds are against me, I'm going to do it."

Matz is said to be a understanding character, with a fiscal personality of economizer. The Blues finished the regular season with a 43-45 record, third place in the East Division.
