On Road, Washington Beats Dallas, 3-2
|
Washington Warriors starter Jamie Stewart turned in a sterling performance against the Dallas Texans, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. Stewart, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 2, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. The Texans fall to 7-9 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2000 season.
With Washington leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Stewart hit a changeup from Tony Vadi for a 2-run double. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Warriors ahead, 3-0.
Stewart called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
