Blues Get Close Win Over Cutthroats, 2-1
|
The New York City Blues eked out a 2-1 win versus the Denver Cutthroats at Cutthroats Ballpark. Nobody did more than pitcher Earl Dunbar. He was terrific. The winner was Brian Hack in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jose Giraldo took the loss. Kyle Boss recorded the save for New York City, his 2nd of the season.
New York City needed the clutch hitting of Adam Torgerson to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Blues on top, 2-1. For the game, Torgerson had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Torgerson told the New York City Today. "But we take nothing for granted."
The win gives New York City a record of 8-8.
