Peanuts Bridle Keystones, 3-1
|
The San Francisco Peanuts went home winners at Peanuts Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Phil Van Haren. Van Haren stifled the Philadelphia Keystones, enabling San Francisco to grab the 3-1 win. In 7 innings, Van Haren surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. Chris Kaplan got the save, the 5th for him this season.
Making an impact for the home team was Pedro Hernandez. In the bottom of the sixth, the 29-year old third baseman had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 2-0, Peanuts.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Van Haren told the San Francisco Observer.
The Keystones are now 5-10.
