Washington got a first-rate effort from pitcher John Braine, who frustrated Boston hitters en route to a 3-1 Warriors triumph at Shamrocks Ballpark. Braine went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 4, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-0. The defeat makes Boston 1-1.

In the bottom of the ninth, Rodrigo Nino stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Shamrocks were trailing 3-1, but had runners on 1st and 3rd. That's when Cory Murnane made a terrific pitch and Nino flied out. Gone was the dream of a Boston comeback.
