Shamrocks Come Back Late to Top Cutthroats, 7-6
|
Boston third baseman Bobby Haff made his presence felt in the 7-6 Shamrocks triumph over the Denver Cutthroats. Haff went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Boston pitcher Gary Ludman got the win, upping his record to 2-0. Steve Palermo got the loss. Boston, now 8-4, has gotten their season off to a good start.
Howie Park drew 2 walk in 5 trips to the plate for Boston. The 22-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring walk off Steve Palermo. It was his 7th walk of the season.
"The team always comes first, so pulling out the win on a day like today is the most important thing," Haff told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
