Peanuts Take Down Shamrocks, 3-2
|
The San Francisco Peanuts had to overcome a good performance from Boston pitcher Jon Person to claim a 3-2 win at Peanuts Stadium. Person went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Chris Kaplan finished to wrap up his 18th save. The win elevated the Peanuts to 38-36.
Had Kerry Cuff not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Cuff hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Peanuts.
Afterward, Peanuts manager Chris Ritter was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
