Jose Martinez never let Philadelphia get something going. The New York City right-hander commanded his splitter in pitching the Blues to a 5-1 win. The 'W' lifts New York City's record to 34-37.
The Blues got an important contribution from third baseman Zach Edwards, who in the bottom of the first punched a 2-0 fastball into right for a 3-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Blues ahead, 4-0.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Martinez. "Successful pitchers do it."
