Blackhawks Lose Despite Valiant Effort by Arzola
|
The Chicago Blackhawks got a sterling performance from first baseman Angel Arzola, but the San Francisco Peanuts still prevailed, 7-6. Arzola slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Mike Kirkland was the winner. Over 8.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts. With the win, San Francisco upped its record to 28-28.
Making an impact for the home team was Jonathan Slaughter. In the bottom of the sixth, the 33-year old left fielder had a run-scoring walk. That made the score 3-1, Peanuts.
"I'm not out here to win a beauty contest," said Slaughter. "Obviously."
