Cutthroats Top Mavericks 4-1 to Begin CQ
|
The Denver Cutthroats powered past the hometown Houston Mavericks, 4-1, in the opener of the Cup Qualifier at Mavericks Ballpark today. Denver starting pitcher Pat Winston threw 9.0 innings of 5-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Cutthroats now lead the series 1-0.
Winston, who was born in New York, threw 138 pitches over 9 innings, while allowing 1 run.
"It was a solid team effort," said Winston after the game.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Mavericks Ballpark in Houston.
